i am a NICU social worker and we would talk to her prior to delivery. Had she delivered the still born in our hospital we would have talked to her then. We would also make sure to ask her what her wishes are and do a full psychosocial assessment when baby is born

Help mother to create a birth narrative. We have not only a premature baby, but we have a "premature mother" who did not experience the third stage of pregnancy: preparing her to welcome her baby.
