What is the distinction between a perinatal mood disorder vs grief after a pregnancy loss

01:33:51
i really loved the idea of the build a bear having something tangible for them to hold and hug

01:37:06
Thank you

01:38:44
Do you recommend postnatal depression screening in the hospital for patient's that experienced a loss?

01:39:45
Post natal depression screenings should be done on all patients!!

01:40:15
we don't screen patients in the hospital who've experienced a loss

01:40:28
they are usually screened at the f/u ob visit

01:42:08
We're also seeing a slew of women with medical terminations for birth anomalies/incompatible with life, who we treat the same as any patient with pregnancy loss. Most of them get referred to pregnancy loss support groups.

I love that your list of What to Say includes mostly open ended questions stimulating sharing of feelings as opposed to the What Not to Say list which is a list of closed statements not encouraging sharing.

01:52:08
thank you for sharing these pointers Dr. Long it will be very helpful for our staff

01:53:10
Thank you Dr Long! Yes, Gabrielle, I am interested in How can we support SW and hospital staff to address compassion fatigue, vicarious grief?

01:54:02
Thank you Dr. Long! I will prepare these slides to share with our staff.

01:54:39
Let’s continue to discuss the compassion fatigue and vicarious grief and trauma in subsequent office hours.

01:58:18
Yes! The vicarious grief experience is significant and should be attended to. An additional consideration with vicarious grief would include that of providers who have had their own prior losses.
